RWS Entertainment Group is seeking Actors for our upcoming “I Love Christmas Movies” contract at Gaylord Palms Hotel in Washington, D.C. Winter 2021.

As an “I Love Christmas Movies” cast member, ACTORS will guide guests through the set of some of the most well-known Christmas movies. Using behind the scenes knowledge and trivia, ACTORS will help guests fully immerse into these films: A Christmas Story, Elf, The Polar Express, Christmas Vacation, & The Year Without A Santa Claus

Seeking Actors: Union and Non-Union performers with dynamic personalities, who are able to entertain by connecting with an audience. Outgoing, energetic performers with basic improv skills. Must be comfortable with guest interactions and have a love for Holiday Movies. 18 years of age or older. Theme Park and Children’s Theatre credits are a plus. All candidates must be able to work legally in the United States.

NOTE: Performers can be Black, Indigenous, Latin, Asian/Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern/North African/South Asian, and/or white, as well as inclusive of all gender identities.

Contract Information

Rehearsal Dates: November 21-25, 2021

Performance Dates: November 26-December 31, 2021

$684/week. Lodging (double occupancy) in the hotel provided.

Who we’re looking for…

RWS Entertainment Group is currently seeking experienced Theatrical Stitchers for seasonal positions in our expanding costume shop and for immediate cruise ship installs.

What’s expected…

• Construct and/or alter all assigned costumes according to the supervisor’s specifications.
• Actively participate in a team consisting of supervisor and other stitchers.
• Understanding of the period, style, and techniques necessary to complete the costume within the costume designer’s guidelines.
• Maintain the integrity of the costume design.
• Comfortable using industrial, domestic, and serger sewing machines.
• Comfortable with stretch fabrics, beading and sequins.
• For cruise ship installs; travel as assigned, valid passport and proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required.

 
The stitcher must be able to perform the following tasks with minimal supervision:

• Zipper insertion.
• Basic tailoring skills.
• Hemming.
• Garment alterations.
• Hand sewing.
• Quick rigging of costumes.

RWS Entertainment Group is currently seeking a Technical Services Manager to serve as an in-house manager of technical project logistics and documentation for experiential entertainment projects spanning theme park, cruise ship, corporate event and retail markets.

Reporting to the Director, Technical Services, this role will be responsible for handling technical logistics, as well as supporting the Technical Services division with administrative duties and recruitment efforts.  This role will act as point person for technical project logistics and will manage the details needed to ensure the success of holiday décor and experiences from conception through execution.

Status: Mobile/Remote, EST Preferred

Salary: $1,100/week

Contract Term: Up to 24-week contract

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Hire and onboard teams of technicians for installation projects across the country.
• Manage department operational projects as assigned.
• Attend production meetings, vendor and client coordination, assist with install plans and drawings to ensure safety standards are always maintained.
• Coordinate all technical department needs between RWS staff, outsourced designers, build shops, clients, contractors, and vendors.
• Order, track, and manage all technical supply logistics, movements, and shipments in shops, warehouses, or on-site.
• Liaise and negotiate with current and potential vendors to ensure items sourced are the most cost-effective and durable.
• Record and document all technical information relating to account data as reference for future production and documentation purposes.

RWS Entertainment Group is currently seeking Technical Project Managers for experiential entertainment projects spanning theme park, cruise ship, corporate event and retail markets.

Reporting to the Technical Director, this role will be responsible for handling all project management and logistics for specific experience installations as assigned. This role will act as point person for the onsite technical team and will manage the details needed to ensure the daily success of holiday décor and experiences from conception through execution.

Status: Onsite (NYC, Milwaukee, and Orlando)

Salary: $1,150/week

Contract Term: NYC is up to 20-week contract. Milwaukee is up to 19-week contract. Orlando is up to 18-week contract.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Manage the planning phase for the project, assisting the shaping/reviewing procurement to ensure that there is a clear understanding of scope division and create a cohesive timeline for all technical elements of the project.
• Assess project and resource requirements, assisting with estimating and negotiating as needed.
• Oversee production processes.
• Manage and communicate needs for install materials, labor, and schedules.
• Advance and book heavy equipment rentals.
• Coordinate freight shipments, both international and domestic.
• Attend production meetings, vendor and client discussions, and site surveys to support advance installation planning and document generation.
• Manage the job site for the project, collaborating with the Associate Technical Director to create a cohesive timeline for all technical elements of the project.
• Provide organization and synthesis of technical and artistic information between the production divisions within RWS as well as clients and vendors.

• Oversee the compliance of safety protocol onsite to ensure a safe working environment for staff, artists, patrons, contractors, and vendors.
• Generate technical manuals, guidelines, operation and installation instructions, and as-built documentation for use by internal and external parties.
• Coordinate the schedules and resources of project technical teams for the timely execution of the install process.  Re-negotiate timelines or schedules as necessary with any changes or unforeseen occurrences.
• Create a high level milestones schedule for the strike to include: Scope, time, personnel (detailing skill requirements), equipment needed, impact on other departments etc..
• Monitor the milestone schedule for the entire experience to ensure timelines are adhered to and ensure there is a connection between install needs and planned logistics.
• Provide onsite leadership and scheduling, meeting deadlines and ensuring crew safety while collaborating with clients and vendors.
• Communicate with vendors, laborers, and client-based technical personnel for safe, expedient, and professional project organization and execution.
• Educate and enforce project on-site personnel of safety practices through daily Safety Briefings at the start of each shift.  Conduct continual Job Hazard Analyses throughout the day at the job site venue.
• Perform all aspects of work in accordance with OSHA, ANSI, and any other recognized standards of the venue.
• Manage the project strike, including overseeing the technical team in collaboration with the Associate Technical Director.
• Produce SOPs for operation and maintenance of the experience.
• Once the experience is live, coordinate all technical adjustments / concerns for the first 3 events days.
• Update the production install documentation to reflect any changes.
• Physical Effort: Strenuous – Physical effort represented by frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 50-100 lbs.) and materials, or heavy hand tools.
• Comfortability operating heavy equipment and hand tools while onsite, as well as standing for long periods of time, but often kneeling, bending, working from your back and at heights well over 50 feet.

RWS Entertainment Group is currently seeking Technical Directors for experiential entertainment projects spanning theme park, cruise ship, corporate event and retail markets.

Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the ideal candidate will be responsible to oversee, educate, and guide project teams in all technical aspects of the production process.  This role is part administrative, part hands-on, and will lead in-house and contracted technical staff to ensure the successful and safe development, installation, operation, and strike of experiential activations. Top level view of job-site safety and proper installation practices are a main focus of this role.

Status: Remote

Salary: $1,375/week

Contract Term: Up to 24-week contract

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Ensure all technical aspects of the production work smoothly, efficiently, and safely.
• Provide organization and synthesis of technical and artistic information between the production divisions within RWS as well as clients and vendors.
• Manage projects effectively within a given budget.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, contractors, coworkers, and clients.
• Continuously remain on the cutting edge of entertainment technology, safety practices, and regulations.
• Ensure a safe working environment for staff, artists, patrons, contractors, and vendors.

• Provide onsite supervision, leadership, and instruction to over hire and onsite crews in order to execute installations in accordance with designer’s vision and safe working practices.
• Plan, assign and schedule work, review work and ensure quality standards, train staff and oversee their productivity onsite.
• Acquire and demonstrate awareness of both RWS’ and the venue’s safety procedures including Emergency Action Plans, PPE Requirements, Lock-out Tag-out Procedures, and additional protocols.
• Educate and enforce project on-site personnel of safety practices through daily Safety Briefings at the start of each shift.  Conduct continual Job Hazard Analyses throughout the day at the job site venue.
• Perform all aspects of work in accordance with OSHA, ANSI, and any other recognized standards of the venue.
• Ensure ongoing safe operation of heavy machinery and personnel lifts.
• Install elements in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation, within rated load limits of the given system, and utilizing best practices recognized within the professional field for the given components.
• Troubleshoot and provide assessment for all aspects of technical production including, but not limited to, lighting, audio, video, projection, architecture, heavy machinery, simple machinery, personnel lifts, power tools, etc.
• Demonstrate understanding of all working aspects of the project and be able to explain such to various personnel involved (laborers with/without experience, clients, performers, etc.)
• Train venue management and technical staff in the proper execution, maintenance, and operation of the Experience for continuation of the run period after RWS and Seasonal Employee’s departure.
• Assist with overall production needs as reasonably requested.
• Understand that the position requires notable traveling (up to 50%) with evening, weekend, and holiday responsibilities depending on production schedules.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent experience required.
• Vocational or technical training in welding, engineering, rigging, carpentry, electronics, audio, construction, electricity a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in the technical entertainment field with minimum 2 years of specific focus on experiential installs and events. At least 2 years of supervisory experience required.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Vectorworks or AutoCAD.
• Valid driver’s license and passport required.
• OSHA, IVES, First Aid, and additional entertainment certifications a strong plus.
• An extensive knowledge of safe construction and rigging practices in the theatrical and event production field, including awareness of dangers and hazards associated with job functions and a willingness to mitigate those risks.
• Knowledge of all technical elements associated with commercial and theatrical lighting, audio, and video production systems and installation.
• Knowledge of holiday lighting products, installation techniques, hardware specifications, and experience with low-voltage systems and installation.
• Demonstrated strategic, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills which exemplify the ability to troubleshoot, identify issues, and find reasonable solutions.  The ability to offer analysis and decisiveness when making decisions is required.
• Experience building and maintaining budgets and cost estimates for a wide range of clients and price points.
• The ability to analyze technical specifications and advise on best practices for our clients.
• Expertise with power tools, ladders, heavy machinery, aerial work platforms, electricity, and all applicable OSHA and ANSI standards.
• Proven technical and mechanical skills, including experience with metal working, rigging, scenic construction techniques, and standard materials used in the entertainment and construction industries.

• Experience creating technical drawings, two and three-dimensional drafting models, and instruction/operation manuals for users with various levels of technical understanding.
• The ability to work at heights in excess of 100’.
• Experience in training, supervision, and mentorship of crews with varying levels of skill across all phases of production.
• The ability to prioritize, multi-task, calmly and efficiently execute under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects, and work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail, safety, and organization.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly develop trusting, productive relationships with clients, vendors, staff, and all partners.
• The ability to negotiate with vendors and discover creative solutions to keep projects on target and within budget parameters.
• Comfort working in all weather conditions, as needed with a willingness for physical labor
• A proven track record leading technical teams.
• Proficiency in MS Office and iWork applications.
